Lutterworth High's under-15s began the season in winning form with a 4-0 turnover against Welland Park on Wycliffe Field, with a blistering free-kick from Jake Thompson the pick of the goals.
It took 24 minutes for the deadlock to be broken after both sides teased their opponents' goalkeepers without really threatening, Ollie Walsh ghosting in at the far post to tap home from close range and give the hosts a half-time lead.
Lutterworth started the second half confidently and soon doubled their advantage after the referee awarded Thompson a free-kick in shooting range. The number 10 duly stepped-up and his thundering attempt left the Welland Park keeper rooted to his spot.
Just two minutes later the game was put to bed when Hudson Muzzell opened his account, dancing around the edge of the box and taking full advantage of his new, more advanced midfield posting.
Injuries shook both sides and their managers were forced into changes in what became an increasingly messy contest. Charlie Thompson added a fourth for the home team as the hour mark approached and, whilst Lutterworth added no further goals they had already put the game beyond reach.
